Max Utzschneider joined the firm in 2023. Previously, he worked as an assistant general counsel for Service Employees International Union Local 32BJ, where his practice focused on enforcing the union’s collective bargaining agreements through grievance and arbitration, and on advising and training union representatives in contract enforcement matters. He also worked as a law fellow for SEIU Local 32BJ immediately following law school.

Mr. Utzschneider graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School. During law school, he worked as a summer fellow for the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, a summer law clerk for SEIU in Washington, D.C., and a legal extern for SEIU Local 32BJ in Boston through Harvard’s’ Employment Law Clinic. He wrote as a student contributor for onlabor.org, served as Editor-in-Chief of Unbound: Harvard Journal of the Legal Left, and received the Irving Oberman Memorial Award for written work on law and social change.

Prior to law school, Mr. Utzschneider obtained a master’s degree in philosophy from the New School for Social Research and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, summa cum laude, from The George Washington University.
