Practice Areas

Gladstein, Reif & Meginniss, LLP has specialized in labor, employment and civil rights law since it was founded in 1976. The firm is organized around the principal that workers and their organizations deserve top-quality legal representation just as much as corporations and large institutions that can pay top dollar for their lawyers.

Practice Areas

Labor

We are counsel to approximately two dozen local unions in the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut metropolitan area, as well as international unions based in Washington D.C. We do not represent employers.

We deal with all aspects of union representation, including: Conducting or assisting in collective bargaining, advising on organizing drives and corporate campaigns, advising on issues ranging from free speech to union election challenges under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act, representing unions before federal and state courts, administrative agencies and arbitration panels.

Wage and Hour Cases

We represent individuals and groups of workers in state and federal court in connection with wage theft, misclassifications, and other wage and hour violations.

Faculty

We provide advice and representation to faculty regarding contract disputes, tenure appeals, and all other issues related to violations of academic freedom, due process, and shared governance.

Civil Rights

We litigate on behalf of employees in state and federal courts under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, state labor laws protecting the rights of individual workers, and in union democracy cases.

Individuals

We represent individual clients on a variety of matters including negotiating separation, severance, and retirement agreements and resolving contract disputes, including through litigation in state and federal court.  We are committed to providing the highest quality legal representation to individual employees.
