Terry Meginniss is a founding partner of Gladstein, Reif & Meginniss and has spent more than four decades representing unions and workers in the transportation, property services, and healthcare industries. He has led the Firm’s work in these sectors, guiding clients through organizing campaigns, litigation, arbitration, and collective bargaining.

From 2009 to 2018, Mr. Meginniss served as General Counsel for SEIU Local 32BJ, one of the largest and most influential property service unions in the country. In that role, he oversaw complex litigation, defended workers’ rights before federal and state agencies, and provided strategic counsel in high-stakes contract negotiations. Before that, from 2005 to 2009, he served as General Counsel to TWU Local 100, where he played a central role in protecting transportation workers in one of the most vital and visible labor sectors in New York City. He now serves as General Counsel to the Climate Jobs National Resource Center, continuing his work advancing union rights while addressing the challenges of a sustainable economy.

Mr. Meginniss’s career has encompassed all facets of labor-management relations. He has litigated cases in federal and state courts, represented unions before administrative agencies, and led arbitration and interest arbitration proceedings. His work has helped unions secure strong collective bargaining agreements and defend the rights of thousands of members across industries.

Prior to joining Gladstein, Reif & Meginniss in 1982, Mr. Meginniss worked at the labor firm Gordon & Shechtman and as a staff attorney for the National Employment Law Project (NELP). He has remained connected to NELP and served on its Board of Directors from 1993 to 2014.

Mr. Meginniss has also contributed to leading publications in the field of labor law, including chapters in National Labor Relations Act: Law & Practice and AIDS and Drug Abuse in the Workplace: Testing and Other Legal-Medical Issues. He is a frequent speaker at labor law conferences, bar association committees, and law schools, sharing his expertise on collective bargaining, preemption, workplace testing, and discrimination litigation. His early service on the Civil Rights Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York reflects his longstanding commitment to civil rights and workplace justice.
