Amy Gladstein is one of the founding partners of Gladstein, Reif & Meginniss. She has litigated an array of issues under the National Labor Relations Act, the Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act and other statutes impacting workers’ rights to organize and to participate in labor organizations. Ms. Gladstein has represented unions in the health care and telecommunications industries, and university professors. Ms. Gladstein brought the first successful case establishing the obligation of employers to provide COBRA coverage to striking employees. She was also trial counsel in the landmark case in which the New York State Board of Regents removed all but one member of the Board of Trustees of Adelphi University for breaching their fiduciary obligations.

Since 2002, Ms. Gladstein has been responsible for directing the new organizing program for 1199 SEIU. In this capacity, she has negotiated and enforced numerous election procedure agreements, providing mechanisms for workers to choose representation in a free and fair manner, and developed and directed strategic organizing campaigns.

Ms. Gladstein graduated from Oberlin College in 1971. Ms. Gladstein was a member of the Order of the Coif at New York University Law School, from which she was a cum laude graduate in 1974. After law school Ms. Gladstein worked as a field attorney at Region 2 of the National Labor Relations Board for two years before leaving to found the firm. She has been a member of the Labor Committees of the New York State and the New York City Bar Associations. She has spoken at many labor conferences, the New York State Bar Association, and at both Harvard and Yale Law School on aspects of representing workers in organizing campaigns. Ms. Gladstein served on the Board of Trustees of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.
